Operating in a responsible way

Nothing is more important than human life. Our Stewardship Framework references individuals’ right to their own life and our Koch Safety Vision and Beliefs further emphasizes our beliefs, our actions, and our approaches. As stated in the safety vision document – “The safety and well-being of our employees and communities is our first priority, always. We make this happen every day by building capability in our people and resilience in our systems, to adapt, prevent, contain, and recover, so that when the unexpected happens, no one is killed or seriously hurt.

Our Stewardship Framework also includes environmental priorities, including Innovation, Energy Efficiency, Air Quality, Water, and Responsible Resource Management that guide us to manage the resources we control in a way that respects the rights of others. It is an expectation of our employees to use fewer materials, natural resources, and energy across our sites and businesses, and to support wildlife conservation and biodiversity in our value chains.

We encourage you to spend more time with the Stewardship Framework and your supervisor to learn more and how this information applies to your role.

How to report an Environment Health and Safety(EHS) incident

There are a variety of methods available to employees, depending upon the severity of the situation, to report EHS incidents. Please ensure that you are familiar with your organization’s response plan for various levels of EHS events and when in doubt, contact your supervisor, your EHS resources, the other resources identified throughout our Code, or the GuideLine.

FUNDAMENTAL Expectations of Employees

  • Seek an understanding of the key EHS risks and compliance requirements of your role, and the action you will take in your daily work to be consistent with our Stewardship & Compliance principle.
  • Report all incidents and near misses, raise concerns, and challenge the status quo in order to prevent incidents and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Report any EHS issue that you believe has not been appropriately resolved, even if it means raising it with another available resource as listed in our Code.
